EXPEDITION WET

The UK’s marine environment is under increasing pressure. From the visible impact of plastic pollution on our beaches to the hidden damage caused by discarded fishing gear and intensive and at times illegal fishing practices that scar the seabed, our seas face growing threats. Greater awareness and understanding are essential if we are to protect the marine environments we all depend on and care deeply about.

To help address this, I brought together a team of experienced divers and marine scientists for an expedition to assess marine environments around the UK coastline and support the vital work being carried out to safeguard them for future generations.

With the support of Maria Harwood, Andy Hunt, and Simon Rogerson, the expedition was completed with the backing of BSAC and resulted in a feature article published in the November 2021 issue of SCUBA magazine.
